Snyder, Gadot & Affleck Call for Release of ‘Snyder’ Cut of “Justice League”

The rumored existence of a Zack Snyder cut of Justice League was confirmed this past August when Aquaman himself stated that Snyder showed it to him. Jason Momoa shared an Instagram post claiming that he had seen the version of the film that Snyder had made prior to leaving the project when his daughter passed away (Joss Whedon finished the film), and that the infamous Snyder version  was “sick.”

Since then there has been online buzz for Warner Bros. to release Snyder’s cut of the film. That buzz got legitimized when stars Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck joined the social media choir requesting the release. Gadot simply Tweeted #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, which Affleck then Tweeted as well. These were both reTweeted by Snyder himself, stating “This ancient Amazonian can’t be wrong” and “Neither can Batman.”

Justice League was not received well, and while it wasn’t a bomb, it did not perform well. Both are likely the result of having two different filmmakers with different visions trying to make the same film (though there are many other possible reasons). The question though is whether it’s worth the cost to Warner Bros. to put money into  an edit of an essentially unfinished film. From a humanitarian perspective, as Snyder had to step away because of the death of his daughter, you would think the studio would put out his vision out of respect.  Digital and home release sales may also help recoup some of the lost profits as well.
