Despite earning $440 million worldwide on a $155 million budget, it looks like Terminator: Genisys will still likely lose money, due to an incredibly aggressive advertising campaign, according to an article on The Hollywood Reporter. This has reportedly prompted Paramount to put the “Terminator universe on hold indefinitely.” This would include a proposed trilogy and a new TV series. Poor reviews and a disappointing domestic draw contributed to Paramount’s decision. James Cameron will obtain the rights back to the property in 2019, but time will tell if it’s a franchise he’ll want to resurrect.
