Pepsi Releasing “Back to the Future II” Inspired Bottles

Pepsi is getting in on the Back to the Future nostalgia action. The cola company will be releasing a limited number of Pepsi Perfect bottles, the design seen the Cafe 80’s scene of Back to the Future Part II. The scene has Marty, after breaking up an argument between Max Headroom-like Ronald Reagan and Ayatollah Khomeini, who are trying to sell him different lunch specials, ordering a Pepsi, and receiving a futuristic Pepsi Perfect bottle (that reads considerably considerably more bizarre that you’d expect). According to USA Today, Pepsi only plans on producing 6,500 of the bottles, which will be available for purchase onine closer to the October 21st 2015 Back to the Future Part II date. PepsiCo’s senior director of marketing Lou Arbetterhad had this to say about the bottle’s release:

“Fans have always been a little crazy about it, and so we wanted to take advantage of the fact that Marty travelled to the future, to this month, and wanted to actually come out with the product. We’re fans of this popular trilogy, and just generally, if you work at Pepsi you’re fans of pop culture. The brand has made its mark in pop culture frankly since Michael Jackson moonwalked. We’ve been dancing in and around pop culture for a while. So we look at this as another opportunity to have a little bit of fun.”

Pepsi will also be handing out 1,500 bottles to any attendee of the New York Comic Con dressed as Marty. Pepsi is one of many companies celebrating the franchise this year. Nike stated they will be releasing Marty’s self tying Mag sneakers, various baseball teams have sponsored Back to the Future Days,  AMC theaters will be showing marathons of the trilogy, Amazon Prime has added all three films to its streaming service, and we, of course, are running our Back to the Future Fan Art contest.  Stay tuned to Film Dumpster for more Back to the Future news!
