De Niro/Scorsese Mob Film to Shoot Next Year

Robert De Niro has confirmed that the long rumored mob film The Irishman will begin shooting next year. The film, now titled I Heard You Paint Houses, is based on the book of the same name, and chronicles the life of notorious real-life mobster Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, who confessed to killed Jimmy Hoffa and New York gangster Joe Gallo, among many others. In an interview with Digital Spy to promote his new film, The Intern, De Niro had this to say:

“We are doing it… We should be doing it sometime next year. We’re slowly, slowly getting it in place.”

The film will reunite De Niro with longtime collaborators Martin Scorsese and Joe Pesci, and will also include Al Pacino in the cast, which means this has the potential to be the greatest mob film ever made.
