Amazon MGM Studios has released the teaser trailer for their upcoming film The Thomas Crowne Affair , directed by, produced by, and starring Michael B. Jordan.
The Thomas Crown Affair first hit theaters in 1968, with Norman Jewison directing Steve McQueen as Thomas Crown, a wealthy Boston businessman who masterminds an elaborate bank robbery largely for the thrill of getting away with it. Faye Dunaway co-stars as insurance investigator Vicki Anderson, who suspects Crown is behind the crime but finds their increasingly personal relationship complicating her efforts to prove it.
More than three decades later, John McTiernan reimagined the story for 1999’s The Thomas Crown Affair, starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. The remake traded the original film’s bank robbery for an art heist, with Brosnan’s Crown stealing a valuable Monet from New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Russo plays Catherine Banning, the investigator determined to catch him, setting up another game of pursuit and attraction between Crown and the woman trying to expose him.
Now, The Thomas Crown Affair is returning to the screen once again, this time with Michael B. Jordan stepping into the title role. Jordan also directs the new film, marking his second feature behind the camera following 2023’s Creed III. The newly released trailer offers the first extended look at this latest interpretation of Thomas Crown and how the familiar story of crime, wealth and romance is being reinvented for a new generation.
The Thomas Crown Affair is only in theaters March 5, 2027.
