Teaser Trailer for Jason Reitman’s “Ghostbusters” Sequel!

Just yesterday it was announced that Jason Reitman would be directing a sequel to the original 1984 Ghostbusters, with his father and original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman on board to produce. Now, just one day later, Reitman has released a teaser trailer for his film, which even in its brevity, hits all the right notes.

The younger Reitman had this to say about the film:

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans. This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”

The soap opera of the Ghostbusters franchise has been ongoing, with false starts, reboots, and empty promises. Even we were in on the rumor action, when Ernie Hudson broke the news to us back in 2014 that they were about to start production on Ghostbuster 3, which obviously turned out not to come to fruition. But with with this teaser, Sony Pictures stating a Summer 2020, and plans to start shooting in a few months, this looks like we may finally have a sequel on our hands. There’s no word as of yet if any of the original surviving cast members will appear in the film, but we’d venture to guess that we’ll at least see Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson pop up. Here’s hoping for Rick Moranis to come of of retirement.
