Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ Renewed For Two Additional Seasons

Bridgerton fans are in for a treat as Netflix just renewed the sensational series for a third and fourth season before the second one has even finished filming.

Shonda Rhimes’ Regency Era romantic drama reached over 82 million households within the first month of its premiere, quickly making it Netflix’s biggest new original series. Since then, Bridgerton has not only begun filming Season 2 but clearly shows no sign of slowing down with Seasons 3 and 4 now on the horizon.

Based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling book series, Bridgerton will tell a new love story each season surrounding different characters that were already introduced in Season 1. The newest season will follow Lord Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest Bridgerton son, on his quest for love. The last time fans saw Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), he had his heart broken and swore off love entirely. However, actress Simone Ashley has already been cast to play his love interest, Miss Kate Sharma.

Although the show will be a semi-continuation of the first season, not all characters are expected to return. Fans were quite disappointed when it was announced that the Duke of Hastings, played by Regé-Jean Page, would not be returning for Season 2. However, Phoebe Dynevor who portrays Daphne Bridgerton is expected to return for the upcoming season.

No premiere date has been set for Season 2, but Bridgerton fans have much to look forward to with not one but three more seasons on their way.

You can stream Season 1 of Bridgerton on Netflix today.
