Monty Python’s “Spamalot” To Be Adapted Into Feature Film

Eric Idle’s “Spamalot,” the Broadway adaptation of the classic Monty Python comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” is being adapted into a feature film. “Spamalot” was written by Eric Idle with music by John Du Prez and took the film, which was essentially a series of short sketches based on the Arthurian legend, and turned it into a wildly successful musical.

Despite the fact the fact fellow Pythoners had little faith in the Broadway show, it went on the be a smash hit, bringing home the Tony Award in 2005 for Best Musical. The original run of the show featured the all-star cast of Hank Azaria, Tim Curry, David Hyde-Pierce and  Sara Ramirez.

Idle is producing the film, which will be casting soon and begin shooting next spring.
