Ewan McGregor in Talks for an Obi-Wan Series on Disney +

In a rare case of a studio giving fans what they’ve been asking for, Ewan McGregor is reportedly in negotiations to star in an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for the upcoming streaming service, Disney +. McGregor, who not only portrayed Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequels but also provided his voice briefly in The Force Awakens, has been very vocal about wanting to return to the role. Fans have been just as eager to see him return, as his Obi-Wan was easily the highlight of the prequels that were otherwise riddled with missteps.  Talks of an Obi-Wan film stalled after the lackluster performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Not wanting to chance a repeat at the box office, Disney + is the perfect home for this.

The series would join Jon Favreau’s bounty hunter themed series The Mandalorian, as well as a still untitled Star Wars series that will act as a prequel to Rogue One.  With Disney’s D23 Expo right around the corner, it’s feasible that we’ll get an official announcement about the Obi-Wan series there.
