Director Confirms “Trainspotting” Sequel

Deadline reported over the weekend that Steve Jobs  director Danny Boyle will be following up the biopic with a sequel to his groundbreaking film Trainspotting. The film not only launched the feature film career of Doyle, but also of its stars Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle. The director says he isn’t the only one on board:

“All the four main actors want to come back and do it. Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series. “

Those two being Miller, who is currently starring in CBS’s Sherlock, and Carlyle, who has a recurring role in ABC’s Once Upon a Time. The script,  written by John Hodge, is based on author Irvine Welsh’s follow up to Trainspotting, Porno, which picks up on the characters ten years after Trainspotting.

While making a sequel to a film this old could be risky, being that the source material is from the same author, and all of the principle stars have all proven themselves as solid actors since the original came out, this could also be very interesting. Not to mention, the idea of catching up with drug addicts in Edinburgh ten years later is a very intriguing idea.
