Cast Revealed for Star Wars’ ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series

The moment Star Wars fans have been waiting for has officially arrived and waited long, we have.

Casting for the new Disney+ special event series, Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced today. The series will star Ewan McGregor reprising his fan-favorite role of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hayden Christensen will also be returning as Darth Vader.

Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

McGregor and Christensen’s performances in the Star Wars prequels have earned them intense respect from fans, even over twenty years later since the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999).

The series will begin shooting this April but no release date has been set. Fans should expect the series’ premiere sometime in early 2022 following the release of The Mandalorian Season 3.

Deborah Chow, who directed two critically acclaimed episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1, will direct Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series is also produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and writer Joby Harold.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will stream exclusively on Disney+.
