Apple TV+ Producing New Peanuts Film

A new Peanuts film is in the works for Apple TV+. The streaming service, which owns the broadcast rights to Charles Schultz’s iconic characters, will be teaming with Wildbrain Studios to bring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the gang on a Big Apple adventure in New York City.

Producer Bonnie Arnold and screenwriter Karey Kirkpatrick—who has written animated screenplays for Chicken Run, Smallfoot, and Over the Hedge—will collaborate to produce the yet-to-be-titled Peanuts movie, which Steve Martino will helm. Co-writers Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano, who penned The Peanuts Movie for 20th Century Fox, which was nominated for a Golden Globe for best animated feature picture—will provide Kirkpatrick with an original concept to work from.

“We can’t wait for everyone to experience this heartwarming new adventure with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang in the big city,” Tara Sorensen, Apple’s head of children’s programming, said in a statement on Monday.

“It is so special to carry on my father’s legacy with an original story from me, my son Bryan and his writing partner Neil,” Craig Schulz added in his own statement.

Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano have also executive produced Peanuts family specials on Apple TV+ like Snoopy Presents: It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown; Snoopy Presents: Lucy’s School; Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie; and Snoopy Presents: For Auld Lang Syne.
