Weekend Box Office Report Feb 5th-7th

So the Super Bowl weekend saw a bit of a drop in movie ticket sales, which isn’t a major surprise.  Without much new competition, Kung Fu Panda 3 was able to keep the number one spot, bringing in another $21,000,000.  That brings its two week total to nearly $70,000,000 and the fact that it’s a few weeks before another big animated release hits the theaters, this one still has legs.  Hail Caesar! the new Coen Brothers movie managed to best other new releases and land itself a number two spot with a $11,500,000 take.  The Revenant and Star Wars still held fairly strong ground coming in 3rd and 4th respectively.  The Revenant brought in $7,000,000, bringing its total to just under $150,000,000.  The Real winner this weekend was Star Wars, although it only brought in $6,890,000 it passed the $900,000,000 mark in domestic sales and broke the $2,000,000,000 mark worldwide.  The competition is about to get a little tighter next weekend, but its Star Wars and it still has a little money to make before it works its way out of theaters.  The terrible idea for a movie, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, opened down at number 6 with only $5,000,000 box office take.
