“Deadpool 2” Writers Say Sequel Will Be a Solo Film

There has been a lot of speculation about what we can expect from the upcoming Deadpool sequel (including a rumoured team up with fan favorite Cable), but in a recent interview with Deadline, writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick provided a little clarity:

“It’ll be a solo movie. It’ll be populated with a lot of characters, but it is still Deadpool’s movie, this next one. We’re pushing forward very hard. I think by every account we will shoot it this year, and we’re on our multiple draft now. It’s taken different twists and turns, but it’s really coalescing, and we’re very, very excited. We’re a little nervous, because now we feel like we have to live up to the first movie, but at the same time, we have to have faith, and we have an extreme passion still.”

While they do not confirm or deny whether or not Cable (or anyone else specfic) will appear in the film, it does appear Ryan Reynold won’t be sharing any significant screen time with any one person. That shouldn’t be too much of an issue though, as Deadpool spends a good portion breaking the fourth wall and talking to the audience anyway. We’ll know for sure when Deadpool 2 opens March 2, 2018.
