‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Trailer

The trailer for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” has been released by Nintendo and Universal.

The tinyl Bowser, who ate a Mini Mushroom at the end of the first film and became the plumber brothers’ little prisoner, is teased by Mario and Luigi at the beginning of the teaser. The true drama starts when Mario rejects Bowser after he draws a beautiful depiction of himself and his beloved Peach. Mario and Peach go to the stars with Luigi and Toad after witnessing scores of shooting stars sweep across the sky. Similar to the video game “Super Mario Galaxy,” Mario and Luigi ride their bikes through a variety of planets, such as one that is completely covered in water and a desert planet with inverted pyramids (from 2017’s “Super Mario Odyssey”).

The heroes encounter princess Rosalina and battle Bowser Jr., Bowser’s son. Benny Safdie provides the voice of Bowser Jr., while Brie Larson provides the voice of Rosalina. Bowser Jr. has a magical paintbrush that he uses to coat himself in metal and launches as a flail, same like in the 2002 video game “Super Mario Sunshine.” In the meantime, Rosalina uses her magic wand to defeat a robot that resembles a spider by herself.

The highly successful “Super Mario Galaxy,” which debuted on the Nintendo Wii in 2007, served as the inspiration for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” The game is regarded as one of the greatest video games ever made, in addition to being one of the greatest mainline Mario platformers. “Super Mario Galaxy” saw the eponymous plumber traveling the universe in search of enough Power Stars to enable his ship to reach the heart of the universe, where Princess Peach is imprisoned by the villainous Bowser, however the movie’s plot details are still vague.

Released in  2023, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was a box office juggernaut, grossing $1.3 billion worldwide and currently sitting as the fifth-highest-grossing animated film of all time behind

Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad) and Charlie Day (Luigi) all return.

“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” hits theaters in April 2026.
