“Mary Poppins” Sequel in the Works

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is planning on making a musical sequel to the 1964 classic film Mary Poppins.  The original film was based on the first of a series of books by P.L. Travers, of which there were eight total, published between 1934 and 1988. The new film will reportedly take place twenty years after the original, which was set in 1910. Rob Marshall (Into the Woods,Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) is set to direct.

I think it’s safe to assume that we think this is a terrible idea. Besides the fact that Disney is doing everything they can to suck the teet dry of any and all of their classic films, what actor in their right mind would attempt to fill the shoes of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke? Film Dumpster prediction- expect to see Anne Hathaway and Neil Patrick Harris to star.
