Producer Frank Marshall went to Twitter to announce that filming has finally wrapped on the upcoming Indiana Jones 5. The highly anticipated fifth film in the action adventures franchise saw a series of setbacks during its production. Star Harrison Ford sustained a severe shoulder injury in June, causing the film’s production to be halted for three months. He had only recently returned to set in Italy in the fall when camera department pro Nic Cupac was discovered deceased in his hotel room in the city of Fes. The filming of the film was also thrown into disarray in November when Morocco restricted flights to and from the UK due to an increase in COVID instances.
It is the first installment of the franchise not directed by Steven Spielberg nor written by George Lucas, with Spielberg serving as a producer instead. The film directed by James Mangold (Logan), with a script co-written by Mangold, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. It stars Harrison Ford reprising his role as famed archeologist Indiana Jones, with new cast members including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas.
The still untitled Indiana Jones 5 is set for release on June 30, 2023
