After an online campaign headed up by Star Wars stars Mark Hamill and John Boyega, Disney and Lucas Films fulfilled the last wish of a dying Star Wars superfan by giving him as early screening of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens last week. Less than a week after the screening, 32 year old Daniel Fleetwood lost his battle with spindle cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Fleetwood’s wife had previously posted an emotional message on Facebook, stating “Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true, in the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!”
See, not everything we report is snarky and cynical. If it was, the headline would have read “Early Screening of Episode VII Kills Star Wars Fan.”
