Transformers 5 Adds Two More Writers

Academy-Award winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has two more writers on his Transformers 5 writing team. Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay announced that Lindsaey Beer and Christina Hodson join The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, The Incredible Hulk and X-Men: The Last Stand writer Zak Penn, Fringe and Lost writer Jeff Pinkner, and Ant-Man writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.

It’s not uncommon for a film of this size to have numerous writers (although the previous four Transformers films only had a few at most), but this is an all-star team of writers. While the last few Transformers films have brought money in for the studio, they have gotten progressively worse reviews, so it makes sense that they’re bringing in some ringers. It’s like the season that SNL brought in Martin Short, Christopher Guest, and Billy Crystal. It’s also possible they hope to soften some of the testosterone laden vibe of the first four by bringing women writers in (but as this is Michael Bay, that’s not likely).

Having this many cooks could very well backfire, but who knows. The only thing we can be certain of is that as long as Robert Kirkman is writing Michael Bay movie, it’s feasible that we’ll see a Megan Fox zombie pop up.
