Amazon will be spinning off its wildly popular series The Boys after the recent second season had the most-watched global launch of an Amazon original series ever, according to Amazon. The network has stated that the show has grown the audience from Season 1 by 89%. The new series will focus on a college exclusively for “supes.” While The boys is clearly taking shots a the MCU and the DCEU, the new show sounds like it might have its target set on the X-Men. The show is described as an “irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.”
The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show has already been renewed for a third season, and an after show started airing this season hosted by Aisha Tyler.
