Stan Lee’s Voice & Likeness Resurrected By AI Company

Fans of the late Stan Lee will be delighted to learn that his voice and likeness will be returning to entertain us. Fans of AI won’t be a happy.

Lee, who dies at the age of 95 in 2015, will be brought back to life thanks to AI company ElevenLabs. The comic book creator’s cloned voice will narrate some of his favorite novels on the Eleven Reader app as part of an agreement with the Stan Lee Universe. Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island will be the first novel in the Stan Lee novel of the Month Club, and over the next year, eleven more works will be adapted.

ElevenLabs’ Iconic Voice Marketplace, a platform where users may request access to voices to create editorial and commercial content, will also feature Lee’s voice, which was created using historical professional recordings. Additionally, the ElevenLabs Image & Video Marketplace will feature Lee’s visage, allowing users to produce the kinds of cameos that solidified his link with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Inspired by the “aesthetic and energy” of his ideas, he has also composed music.

“Stan always believed in meeting his fans where they were: in the pages of a comic, at a convention, or in a quick on-screen cameo,” said Chaz Rainey of the Stan Lee Universe. “This partnership is a way of continuing that. Fans have always told us that when they read his comics, they hear the words in Stan’s voice, and now, thanks to ElevenLabs, we can make that a reality.”
