Deadline is reporting that Robert Rodriguez will be directing a remake of the 1981 cult classic Escape from New York. The original film introduced the world to Kurt Russell’s bad-ass Snake Plissken, and set up the underrated 1996 sequel Escape from L.A. Original director John Carpenter will act as producer of the film.
If there is one film franchise we don’t want touched it’s Escape from New York, but at least they picked the director who could probably pull it off. The casting of Snake will make or break the film, though.
