We here at Film Dumpster will be the first to admit that we’ve been a bit skeptical about this movie, to say the least. We may have bashed the desicion to reboot the franchise in a podcast or two. And we may have had a few choice words about the casting of Ed Helms. But this Red Band trailer looks like this could be pretty funny.
The cast is solid (Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, Chris Hemsworth, Charlie Day) , and Helms looks like he might be able to sell this thing. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo have cameos which, to be honest, is probably for the best. Chase isn’t excactly at his Fletch best anymore. There’s even a reference to the fact that a good number of people seeing this may not have ever seen the 1983 original (if you haven’t, the original trailer is tacked on at the end of this one).
We’ll find out if this thirty year old reboot is worth it on July 31, 2015.
