Ice Cube will be reteaming with his Barbershop and Ride Along director Tim Story for a modern day retelling of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Story.” Cube will play a wealthy real estate mogul whose life is redeemed by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
In addition to African-American audience driven films like First Sunday and Think Like a Man, Story’s credits also include both of the pre-reboot Fantastic Four movies, as well a the Jimmy Fallen/Queen Latifa bomb Taxi.
There have been twenty four previous film adaptions of “A Christmas Carol,” as well as dozens and dozens of television, radio, and theatrical versions of the story. Every single holiday season some variation of the Scrooge story is told. So do we need another retelling of “A Christmas Carol?” No, but given Story’s box office record, particularly with Ice Cube, expect this to be a holiday hit.
