While presenting the Oscar for Best Editing at the 93rd annual Academy Awards, Harrison Ford humorously read off a list of notes from early-80s Warner Bros. executives about early cuts of Blade Runner. The film was infamously micromanaged by the studio, adding Ford’s voice over and a “happy ending,” resulting in a cut of the film that neither Ridley Scott or Harrison Ford were happy with. Various Director’s Cuts later, the last being 2007’s ‘The Final Cut,’ Blade Runner has gone on to become one of the most influential science fiction films of all time, resulting in 2017’s sequel, Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gosling and Ford.
