Comedian/actor Jim Gaffigan posted a picture of him and Ethan Hawke on the set of the upcoming Tesla biopic, giving us our first look at the pair as George Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla, respectively. It was announced earlier last year that Hawke would be portraying Tesla, with the film focusing on the life and times of the famed inventor, including his rivalry with Thomas Edison. Gaffigan captioned the picture with:
“Found this photo of my great grandfather with @ethanhawke ‘s great grandfather. #tesla#georgewestinghouse”
Fellow inventor and entrepreneur George Westinghouse was a supporter of Tesla, believing in his alternating current (AC) motor power supply system, which was in contract to rival Edison’s direct current (DC) system.
Tesla will reunite Hawke with director Michael Almereyda, with whom he worked on Hamlet and Cymbaline. There is currently no release date set for the film.
