According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox has already greenlit a sequel to Deadpool, just a few days before the film’s release. It’s projected to have a good opening weekend, and the early buzz is pretty good (at the time of this article, it’s tracking at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes).
It was also announced that longtime Deadpool foil Cable will be joining the sequel, which should make for a lot of fun. Obviously casting the role will be key, as they need to have good chemistry with Reynolds. The actor recently told IGN that he plans on staying with Deadpool for a while.
“I never want to play another comic book character again; Deadpool, I would like to play for the rest of my life – that’d be fun. No, I’ve done a number of them, and I think it’s time for other people to do them now. You’ve got to share the wealth on that one.”
We’re on board with that.
