Bill Paxton Dead at 61

We are sad to report that actor Bill Paxton, known best for his roles in Titanic, True Lies, A Simple Plan, Twister, Apollo 13, and HBO’s Big Love, has died at the age of 61 due to complications from a surgery.  His family released the following statement:

“A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker.  Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable.  We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.”

Paxton was born in Fort Worth Texas, and after a series of smaller roles, including James Cameron’s Terminator, Paxton gained notoriety playing the older brother Chet in the sci-fi comedy Weird Science. Paxton was most recently starring in the television series adaption of the film Training Day. Paxton also directed the 1976 cult music video for the Barnes & Barnes song “Fish Heads.”

He left behind his wife  Louise Newbury (his second) and two children, 19 year old Lydia, and 22 year old actor son James.
