Anna Kendrick & Blake Lively Returning for ‘A Simple Favor 2’

Director Paul Feig  is bringing back Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively for another mystery in “A Simple Favor 2.”

The co-production with Lionsgate, the second film is slated to start production this spring and debut on Prime Video, according to a statement released by Amazon MGM Studios on Wednesday. With Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack all returning from the original picture, Feig is back to oversee the sequel to his dark comedy from 2018.

“A Simple Favor” is a stylish and twisted mystery-thriller directed by Feig, based on the novel of the same name by Darcey Bell. The film follows Stephanie Smothers, a widowed single mother played by Kendrick, who strikes an unlikely friendship with the enigmatic and glamorous Emily Nelson, portrayed by  Lively. As their bond deepens, Emily suddenly disappears, leading Stephanie on a quest to unravel the secrets behind her friend’s disappearance. Filled with unexpected twists, dark humor, and sharp performances, “A Simple Favor” keeps audiences on the edge of their seats as it delves into themes of deception, betrayal, and the complexities of human relationships.

In “A Simple Favor 2,” Emily Nelson (Lively) and Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) travel to the island of Capri for Emily’s opulent nuptials. Murder and treachery are on the schedule for Emily and a wealthy Italian businessman’s destination wedding.
