Warwick Davis Returning as Wicket in Episode VII?

We know that Warwick Davis will be appearing in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, but his role is being kept under wraps. A new rumor circulating has Davis returning to the role that started his career, everyone’s favorite Ewok, Wicket.

The Willow, Leprechaun, and Harry Potter star was first seen in the Star Wars universe playing Wicket in Return of the Jedi, and then went on to reprise the role in the TV movies The Ewok Adventures and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. Davis returned to Star Wars appearing as several characters in The Phantom Menace.

The fact that Davis will be appearing in The Force Awakens is fantastic. It’s always great to see him on screen. And it’s particularly great to have him return to the franchise that started his career. But shoehorning Wicket into the story would be a terrible idea. As far as we can tell, J.J. Abrams is already giving us everything we want, but adding Wicket seems like it would be pushing it a bit. If there is a very organic way to do it, then fine, but that seems unlikely. Besides, it would be a very “George Lucasy” thing to do, and that’s the last thing we want.
