Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world! Paramount Pictures has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming reboot of The Naked Gun starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Neeson) follows in his father’s footsteps in The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,The Lonely Island) and from producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy). Joining the case are Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston.
Leslie Nielsen played the role of Franklin “Frank” Drebin in the original “Naked Gun” trilogy from Paramount, a police procedural parody that focused on a good-hearted but naive detective. With favorable reviews and $140 million at the box office, the 1988 film “The Naked Gun: From the Files of a Police Squad,” based on the short-lived TV series “Police Squad,” was a critical and financial success. Due to its popularity, the studio was able to steer two sequels to financial success: “The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear” (1991) and “Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult” (1994). Since 2013, Paramount has been making an effort to revive the series. Ed Helms played Frank Drebin in the initial revival, although that version ultimately failed.
The Naked Gun hits theaters August 1, 2025.
