In an interview with Yahoo Movies to promote his new film Bridge of Spies, director Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks discussed their previous films together, and Spielberg noted that Hanks and other frequent Spielberg collaborator Harrison Ford are tied in the number of movies they’ve made , at which point he dropped this bomb:
“We’ve gotta figure this out because now, Tom is tied with Harrison Ford: Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies. Now I’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, [so] it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom. I’ve got to make another one with Tom, that’ll be five for Tom, five for Harrison. And I think I’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else!”
Earlier in the year we reported that Kathleen Kennedy had confirmed there would be an Indy 5, but it was not made clear if Ford would return, or if it would be a reboot. It’s great to hear Ford will get one more crack at the character. This could be Indiana’s Unforgiven, or perhaps a passing of the baton story. No matter what it’s about, it has to be better than Crystal Skull.
