According to the Star Wars themed podcast The Resistance Broadcast, Ron Howard left very little of the film that Phil Lord and Chris Miller shot before they were let go. There have been speculations as to how much of their film Howard had to reshoot, but if this is true, the film’s presumably high budget will likely have doubled (not that Disney’s pocketbooks are shallow). If the rumors about the dou’s departure are true, Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s film was entirely took schticky, and not nearly Star Wars enough. One can assume an complete reshoot will fix that. This also potentially resolves the “directing credit” debate.
