According to Screen Junkies, Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the upcoming Flash movie. The film has had a bit of development issues, with both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa stepping away from the director’s chair. Despite some pretty iconic films under his belt (Back to the Future franchise, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump), this would be Zemeckis’ first foray into the comic book genre. The director is no stranger to working on special effects heavy films, having helped pioneer or improve upon computer techniques used for films like Back to the Future Part II, Death Becomes Her, Forrest Gump, and Polar Express.
The Flash will star Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) as the Scarlet Speedster, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) Iris West, Billy Crudup (Watchman) as Barry Allen’s father, Henry Allen, and Ray Fisher (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as Cyborg, and is scheduled to open March 16, 2018.
