Robert Pattinson Offered the Role of Batman

Warner Bros. has reported that after full costume screen tests for Robert Pattinson and Tolkien star Nicholas Hoult, Pattison has officially been offered the role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film noir inspired film The Batman. The studio is now in negotiations with Pattinson. If he accepts, he will be the eighth actor to play the Caped Crusader on the big screen, following Adam West (Batman ’66), Michael Keaton (Batman, Batman Returns), Val Kilmer (Batman Forever), George Clooney (Batman and Robin), Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises), and Ben Affleck (Batman v Superman, Justice League, Suicide Squad).  Technically, Pattinson would be the ninth if you include Kevin Conroy in the Mask of Phantasm.

Our own Jeff Heller weighed in on the Pattison casting rumors a little while back, and in a nutshell, he thinks Pattison will be just fine, dispute some online fan backlash.

The Batman is scheduled to begin production in early 2020.
