Disney’s “reimagining” of their 1977 classic live action/animation hybrid Pete’s Dragon finally has a trailer, and it looks to be a far cry from the fun loving tone of the original. The former had orphan Pete and his sometimes invisible dragon taking residency in a small fishing town in turn of the century Maine, and starred Helen Reddy, Mickey Rooney, Jim Dale, Red Buttons, Jeff Conaway, and Shelley Winters, and featured animation from the legendary Don Bluth. The latter is set in present day, and has a forest ranger coming across a Tarzan/Mowgli type child who’s been living on his own in the woods for six years, with the aid of his dragon friend.
The film stars Oakes Fegley,Oona Laurence, Bryce Dallas Howard, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban and Robert Redford, and is scheduled for an August 16, 2016 release.
