In an interview with Deadine, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated that the studio thinks Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is prime picking for her own film franchise:
“The one [character] creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing [a movie on] is Black Widow. We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise.”
While that statement does not give concrete confirmation that they’re moving ahead with a Black widow solo film, it does indicate that they’re moving in that direction. Black Widow has been the backbone of both the Avengers films and the last two Captain America films, so it only makes sense to let her have her own series of films. In the meantime, Hawkeye will be seen in a late night infomercial for bedazzled quivers.
