Actor John Hurt has announced that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The 75 year old British actor released the news to the Press Association.
“I have always been open about the way in which I conduct my life and in that spirit I would like to make a statement. I have recently been diagnosed with early stage pancreatic cancer. I am undergoing treatment and am more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome, as indeed is the medical team.”
Hurt’s long career includes the films The Elephant Man, Midnight Express, Alien, Harry potter, Hellboy, V for Vendetta, Love and Death on Long Island, and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, as well as extensive stage and television work, including Doctor Who.
We tend to pepper our news with a bit of snarkiness here at Film Dumpster, but this is just a shame. Hurt is a brilliant actor, and always raises the level of any project he is working on. We sincerely hope he can push through it successfully.
