Joel McHale Joins ‘Scream 7’

Joel McCale has joined the cast of  the upcoming Scream 7, portraying the husband of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott.

Along with newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp, McHale joins a group that also includes Courtney Cox and Mason Gooding, who play original characters Gale Weathers and Chad Meeks-Martin, respectively. Although May is portraying Prescott’s daughter, who was last seen in the 2022 Scream revival, the plot of the most recent entry in Spyglass and Paramount Pictures’ meta horror franchise is still unknown, as are other character information for new additions.

Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original Scream, is directing from a script by Guy Busick Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein, producers for Project X Entertainment, are on board after working with the scribe on Scream VI and the remake. The film, which is scheduled to open in theaters on February 27, 2026, follows the success of Scream VI, which in March 2023 earned a franchise-high domestic gross of over $108 million. Together, the Ghostface killings-themed movies in the series have brought in over $900 million at the box office worldwide.

McCale is currently starring in and exec producing the hit Fox comedy Animal Control, which just returned for its third season. He also recently popped up in FX’s The Bear, and will soon guest star in the upcoming third season of Yellowjackets, and will be reprising his role as Jeff Winger from the cult hit comedy Community in Community: The Movie, which he’ll exec produce.
