Director Zack Snyder had intended to reveal that Harry Lennix’s character Calvin Swanwick that was featured in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was in fact J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter, but due to Lennix’s Blacklist shooting schedule, he was unable to film any scenes in Justice League.
However, Lennis recently revealed to Collider that he shot additional footage for Snyder’s upcoming director’s cut of Justice League that will confirm his role as the ‘Manhunter from Mars.’ “I think we can put the rumor to bed, said Lennix. “Yes, I am the Martian Manhunter.” This isn’t completely surprising news for those that have been following the progress of the revamped version of the film, with Lennix recently discussing the secretive role, but the actor confirmed that he shot additional green screen footage in October for the Snyder Cut. Lennix compares the work to his green screen work in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions and discusses the heroism of the Martian Manhunter.
Zack Snyder’s four-part director’s cut of Justice League is expected to premiere on HBO Max in March.
