Han Solo Film Starts Filming

Director Chris Miller Tweeted a picture of this clap board to announce the first day of filming on the Han Solo Star Wars prequel. Miller captioned the picture “Han First Shot,” which, in addition to announcing the first shot of the film, is also a reference to George Lucas’ re-edit of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in which Greedo shot at Han first, rather than the other way around. We are going to assume this film will put the edge back on Han that Lucas attempted to take off with that edit. The film’s shooting title, Red Cup, is obviously a reference to red Solo cups, as well as the shooting title of the original Star Wars, Blue Harvest. We still have no confirmation of an actual title to the film.

The Han Solo film, opening next year, is co-directed by Phil Lord, and stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Glover. There is no word on whether Peter Meyhew or Joonas Suotamo will be joining the film as Chewbacca, though one would certainly hope so.
