Deadline is reporting that Fargo and Legion writer/director/executive producer Noah Hawley is in final talks to write and direct the fourth film in the current Star Trek franchise, which features Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban. Paramount is also still reportedly working on the Quentin Tarantino directed Trek film, which is to be written by The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith.
Hawley’s only other feature film directing was Lucy in the Sky with Natalie Portman earlier this year, though he wrote the 2006 film The Alibi with Steve Coogan, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. It was reported a while ago that Hawley would be directing an adaptation of To Be Read Backwards, a short story by Matthew Baker, about a man who “begins his life at his death and learns about himself as he, and the world, unravel in reverse.”
