Look right in the middle of heads of the two Tom Hardys in this poster for the film Legend, and you’ll see a rating from the Guardian. Based on the rest of the four and five star ratings on the poster, one would assume that the other stars are behind their (his) heads. Whelp, that’s not the case. Journalist Benjamin Lee actually gave the film a two star rating, stating:
“It’s a disappointingly shallow take on a fascinating period of time and leaves us sorely uninformed, as if we’ve skim-read a pamphlet. The legend might live on but Legend certainly won’t.”
He went to Twitter to call them out on it:
“Incredible way of making my two star review seem like I didn’t hate the film.”
We could go on about how scrupulous and misleading this is, but that would just be masking our jealousy that one of our reviews haven’t been used in any promotion for a film. We need to start giving really good reviews to shitty movies.
