According to Deadline, “The Jungle Cruise” stars Dwayne Johnson & Emily Blunt will be starring in a adaptation of the superhero-themed four-issue Homage Comics series, “Ball and Chain.” The synopsis of the series is as follows:

Edgar and Mallory Bulson have decided to throw in the towel. That was the plan anyway, until a mysterious meteor bathed the battling couple in extraterrestrial energies that gave them super-powers. Will their newfound abilities be enough to make their marriage work?

The film was written by  Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick), and is being produced by Kevin Misher and Seven Bucks. The film is currently being considered by several studios, including Netflix. Johnson and Blunt were set to debut in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” on July 24, 2020, but was pushed back to July 31, 2021.
