There is no denying that we are all massively excited to finally get our very own Deadpool movie (we spit in the direction of what they did to poor Wade Wilson in that horrid Wolverine spin-off) and not only is Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld pumped, he told Comicbook.com that it will have heart along with plenty of wise-cracking and a good dose of the ultra-violence. He went on to compare Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool to that of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.
“The Tony Stark I grew up with wasn’t as snappy and as quippy as Downey Jr. made him, but now I only think of his performance. That is what is going to happen here with Ryan and Deadpool. You can see it happening already. It’s a complete ownership of a role that we are all going to rally around. This Deadpool film will establish Deadpool on a global scale.”
That’s a pretty tall order to fill comparing Deadpool to two of the most successful franchises in the Marvel Cinematic world but I know a whole gaggle of geeks are the hoping it lives up to Liefeld’s hype. Chimichangas aside lets hope its at least half as good as either of those two movies and if so we will all break the forth wall to usher in a new franchise.
Filming of the Deadpool feature has already begun and the movie is set to be released February 12, 2016.
