According gto Deadline, Colin Farrell is in talks to play The Penguin in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. This would add to the list of confirmed villains, with Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. “The more the merrier” has never really worked well in past superhero films, so we’re hoping the script doesn’t get too crowded in the villain department. Danny DeVito portrayed The Penguin in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.
Deadline is also reporting that Andy Serkis is in talks to take on the role of Alfred in The Batman. The role has been previously played on screen by Michael Gough, Michael Caine and Jeremy Irons. The cast is rounded out by Robert Pattinson as Batman and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
The film is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
