Disney’s Investor Day presentation gave us A LOT of Marvel announcements, for both theatrical MCU releases and Disney+ projects. Here’s what we know to be coming:
DISNEY +
Secret Invasion
Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos the Skrull (Ben Mendelsohn) will be taking on, well, a secret invasion in the new series, which was teased in the post-credit sequence of Spider-Man: Far from Home.
Armor Wars
Don Cheadle will be returning as James Rhodes, a.k.a War Machine, in the new series that will focus on Stark tech getting into the wrong hands.
The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special
James Gunn will be directing the special during production of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.
I Am Groot
Baby Groot will be starring in a series of new shorts on Disney+. No word if Vin Diesel will be voicing Groot again, but given the limited vocabulary, they likely have a library of ‘I am Groots” to pull from.
Ironheart
If Beale Street Could Talk’s Dominique Thorne will be playing young, Riri Williams, a girl who builds her own Iron Man armor out of stolen Stark tech to help fight crime in her neighborhood.
She Hulk
It was announced that Tim Roth will be returning as the Abomination, last seen in The Incredible Hulk and it was confirmed that Mark Ruffalo will be returning as the Hulk to join his cousin, portrayed by Tatiana Maslany.
Ms. Marvel
Newcomer Iman Vellani will be starring as Kamala Khan in the new Ms. Marvel series. Vellani’s Ms. Marvel will also be co starring with Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris (who will first be seen as a grown up Monica Rambeau in WandaVision), in in Captain Marvel 2
MCU
Fantastic Four
Marvel’s First Family is finally heading to the MCU. Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home’s Jon Watts’ will be directing, which statistically HAS to be better than previous Fantastic Four films.
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
The third film in the Ant-Man franchise finally has a name and a villian. Lovecraft Country’s Jonathan Majors will be playing time-traveling tyrant Kang the Conqueror, a long-time villain in the Marvel comics. Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Michelle Pfeiffer are returning., with Kathryn Newton taking over the role Scott’s daughter, Cassie.
Black Panther II
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel Studios has no plans to recast the role of T’Challa, King of Wakanda, but rather will “explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.”
Thor: Lover and Thunder
It was announced that Christian Bale will play the villain Gorr The God Butcher in upcoming fourth Thor film. He’ll be joining Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thomspon, Taika Waititi, and Natalie Portman.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
The Baby-Sitters Club’s Xochitl Gomez will be joining the cast of Doctor Strange 2 as Young Avenger America Chavez, making her live-action debut. The good doctor will also be appearing in the upcoming third Spider-Man film, with everyone else as it turns out.
