When it was announced that Ruby Rose was leaving the titular roles in CW’s ‘Batwoman,” everyone assumed that the network would simply replace Rose with another actress in the Kat Kane role. However, it looks as though the show will carry on with a new character altogether. According to a leaked casting call, the producers are looking for a character named “Ryan Wilder” (though that may be a misnomer) who is described as a “female, Mid-late 20s, any ethnicity.” It also stated thart “She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her.”
This is an interesting move, as the show not only revolves around Kane, but as Kat is Bruce Wayne’s cousin, she is the connection to Batman. We’ll know more about the character change when the show returns in January of 2021.
