The one day re-release of the Back to the Future trilogy for Back to the Future Day on October 21st earned $1.65 million from 1,815 North American theaters, in addition to a $3.2 million international earning, bringing in a total of $4.8 million for Universal Pictures. Not bad for a one day engagement of a twenty five-thirty year old franchise. It beat the hell out of Jem and the Holograms $1.3 million opening weekend, proving that not all eighties nostalgia is good.
