X-Men: Apocalypse Update: New Set Photos and More

Well there has been a whole lot of buzz recently on Bryan Singer’s follow up to last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.  The new movie, X-Men: Apocalypse will find the mutants somewhere in the 1980’s and we will see much younger versions of some of our favorite X-Men. Nightcrawler will be played by Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road).  Bryan Singer is no stranger to social media and both he Smit-Mcphee posted a pic of the new Nightcrawler just a couple of days ago:

Nightcrawler isn’t the only younger version of X-Men favs.   Singer has cast Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.  A set photo has leaked onto the net and shows several of the young recruits:

I can’t say I’m not a bit leery of this turn but the director produced a surprisingly excellent  follow-up last year to First Class, so hopefully  he is up for the task. New comer to the X-Men cinematic universe, Psylocke, will be played by Olivia Munn.  There are also rumors of Evan Peters returning as Quicksilver, as well as buzz of Angel and Jubilee making an appearance in the film. Which means that there will be a whole lot of characters vying for screen time against the cast leads James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicolas Hoult. Possibly the most exciting turn in casting is that of Oscar Isaac playing Apocalypse.  We have yet to get a peek of the new movie’s villain or the Four Horsemen he will bring with him. I’m not sure if the new recruits will help the film and the fact that it is set in the 80’s will either play as nostalgic or corny but at least it’s in capable hands.  Either way we will find out in May of 2016 when the film is scheduled to be released.
